Web Design

Like many designers with a print background, at first I refused to venture out from the security of the print industry. I viewed web design as too limiting and too complicated. But I am a tinkerer as well as a creative thinker, and when the dot com boom hit, I began to tinker with my free Geocities and Angelfire sites, quickly catching the web design bug.

I lived in the world of html tables, counting pixels, and slicing and dicing images until a friend told me that I needed to suck it up and really learn web design.

Today, I can still design for the printing press, but I can also take a concept, design the layout and typography in Illustrator and Photoshop, and build it out in HTML and CSS. I also know a bit of PHP to aid in dynamically generating web pages. This has given me the ability to design with consistency from the press to the web page, and has also given me the ability to be able to speak the 'programmer lingo' and not just the 'graphic artist lingo'.

Search Engine Optimization has become somewhat of a hobby of mine. I use a variety of tools to help with building page-rank and organic search. I am very familiar with Google Analytics and have used it extensively to monitor traffic, build Goals and Funnels and track keywords.

On the paid side of the online advertising, I have a lot of experience setting up Campaigns and Conversion Tracking in Google Adwords, and successfully cut online advertising costs in half while maintaining and improving upon current keyword CTR (click through rate).
